Sharp's Ridge Overlook
Sharp's Ridge Overlook is a scenic spot hidden in Knoxville, TN. Imagine you're cruising during a cool breezed summer night. The sun is starting to set, the skies are a mix between blue and purple, and the fantastic night reminds you of your childhood playing outside as the sun sets. The perfect way to end the night is by taking a sunset drive to Sharp's Ridge to overlook the city lights.
With your hand on the steering wheel, you make a turn onto a small, narrow road just right before entering downtown Knoxville. Following the narrow concrete paved road, you drive alongside a hill. The road is built right into the side of the hillside, so you follow the narrow curvature of the road with only the edge barely blocked off. The further up the hillside you drive, the higher you can see the city below.
Pulling off into the area, you turn onto a small parking lot with a few parking spaces near a bush. Stepping out of the car, you step up onto a slightly curved gray wooden platform; the edges protected by more gray wooden slabs. The outline of the surrounding treetops makes a small peephole - just enough to view the active city below. Depending on which season when you visit, depends on what view you'll be lucky to witness. The beautiful white, sparkly snow on the trees, or the luscious green leaves in the springtime. During the dark night, you are able to indulge in the present moment of being surrounded by the dark night, listening to your favorite songs, eating your favorite snacks, and watching the stars twinkle above you.
